Komatsu PC130LC11, from Komatsu

Komatsu, a leading construction equipment manufacturer, has launched the PC130LC-11, a longer undercarriage version of its midsize PC130-11 excavator that was unveiled in 2020. This new LC (Long Carriage) model boasts an 8% increase in track length, resulting in a remarkable 20% boost in lifting capacity compared to its predecessor, the PC130-8, which was discontinued in the U.S. market in 2011.

The PC130LC-11 shares many similarities with the standard PC130-11 model in terms of specifications. However, the longer tracks of the LC version are specifically designed to enhance stability and lifting capabilities. Notable improvements include an increase from 43 to 46 shoes on each side, two carrier rollers on each side instead of one, and eight track rollers on each side compared to seven.

Andrew Earing, Director of Tracked Products at Komatsu, highlights the versatility and adaptability of the upgraded PC130LC-11 excavator, stating, "It can easily handle a wide variety of utility work or small construction jobs. It provides a versatile workhorse for you as your business expands and grows."

In addition to the increased lifting capacity, the PC130LC-11 model is slightly heavier than the standard PC130, adding approximately 400 pounds to its weight. Other specifications remain similar for both models. They are equipped with a 97.2-horsepower Komatsu engine that meets Tier 4 Final emissions standards through the use of a Komatsu diesel oxidation catalyst and positive regeneration. Both excavators deliver a 12% reduction in fuel consumption compared to the PC130-8 and feature a standard auto-idle shutdown function for improved fuel efficiency.

The PC130-11 series, known for its conventional tailswing design, incorporates steel castings in critical areas such as the boom foot, boom nose, and arm tip to effectively distribute working loads away from high-stress zones. The large one-piece hood allows easy access to ground-level grease points, engine oil, and fuel filters, simplifying maintenance procedures.

Standard equipment on the PC130LC-11 includes automatic air conditioning, a 7-inch high-resolution LCD monitor, rearview monitor system, suspension seat, AM/FM radio with auxiliary input, USB, and Bluetooth wireless technology, LED lights, floor mat, intermittent front windshield wiper and washer, large ceiling hatch, pull-up front window, and a removable lower windshield. Optional equipment includes the KomVision surround camera system and a sun visor.
