Develon Who?

The heavy equipment conglomerete, Daewoo/ Doosan, has now changed it's name to Develon. This was revealed at a press release in Las Vegas, NV on January 17, 2023. The change was effective immediately across the globe, changing all instances of Doosan to Develon.

This name change has been in the works for a while, stemming from the acquisition of Doosan Infracore's acquisition by Hyundai Heavy Industries in August of 2021. Financial hardship fell on Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction, leading them to the decision to sell off their construction equipment segment to pay down their debts. The acquisition of Infracore did not include Bobcat, or Doosan Portable Power.

What does "Develon" even mean?

While it doesn't really roll of the tongue as easily as Daewoo or Doosan, there is meaning behind the rebranding. It is pronounced like the word "develop" with an "n" at the end instead of a "p." It was patterened after the thought of "Developing Onward." In a news release the company said the rebrand comes from the wish to "convey the company's drive to develop onward to bring innovative solutions to the construction equipment industry through technological transformation and the development of exceptional equipment and services."

Dealers, parts, and engines will follow in the rebrand, with color being the only thing that seems to be staying the same. Orange machines, parts and decorations in dealerships are here to stay!

The Develon logo has some stylicistic changes as well, with the "D" having a stylized center, shaped like the cross between an excavator bucket and an arrow foward.

New Develon machines made a striking appearance at this year's CONEXPO, outside in the Fairgrounds, right next other heavy hitters like CAT, Volvo, and Liebherr.
