Yanmar and ASV Complete Merger
Yanmar and ASV have merged to form Yanmar Compact Equipment North America (YCENA) as of early February 2023. This long-awaited merger allows YCENA to concentrate on expanding its product offerings, strategic growth, and better serving its customers in North America. According to Tate Johnson, YCENA's president, the merger has been in the works for three years and the organizations have already operated under the YCENA brand commercially since July 2020. The merger has now been finalized, and the two companies will operate as one legal entity.
Although the Yanmar CE and ASV brands will operate under the same entity, they will continue to operate independently, retaining their respective product lines and dealer networks. Yanmar Compact Equipment focuses on mini excavators, compact wheel loaders, and tracked carriers for commercial construction, residential construction, utility, and rental markets, while ASV targets the landscaping and forestry markets with its compact track loaders and skid steers.
Joining forces allows dealers to have one single avenue to do business with the company, streamlining the process. In January 2023, Yanmar Compact Equipment North America (YCENA) unveiled plans for a 32,000-square-foot expansion of its Grand Rapids, Minnesota, facility. The expansion project is a strategic move to increase YCENA's capacity and is projected to create hundreds of full-time positions over the next five years. This development is part of YCENA's long-term plan to meet the growing demand for its products and services while improving the customer experience.
