Hiring Dogs for Your Job Site?

Would you hire a dog to work on your worksite? Seems a bit risky to have Rosco running around heavy construction equipment, unless Rosco comes from Boston Dynamics.

That's what a construction company in the UK is doing. Battersea Roof Gardens Development in London has hired the services of Spot of Boston Dynamics. Spot is a robot dog that gathers data by running around the job site.

Humans are able to control spot remotely, and also allow the robot to respond to a programmed route.

Battersea develops structures including high-end apartments. They use spot to conduct sweeping views of the area.

The robot can be preprogrammed to follow a specific pattern to scan certain areas and collect essential data including construction progress and potential risks.

Spot is able to create a "digital twin", or a four-dimensional model of the area. This allows observers to to see how people, furnishings, and environmental conditions interact.

Boston Dynamics has many different types of robots in development. The amazing technology has many really cool demonstration videos on the internet. But our favorite Boston Dynamics video is actually a parody you can see here.
