Keep the Rust Off Your Machines!

When you get a brand-spanking new machine, it's so nice looking, it's almost a shame you have to use it!  You know that within a few weeks of use, it will start getting beat up and rust will start eating away at the iron.  Though you can't eliminate rust, you can definitely reduce corrosion.

A you know, rust forms when water and air mix.  With that knowledge, here is what you can do to help combat rust.

First you can use commercial products to help prevent rust.  Popular productions include Rust-Oleum and Rustlick. Applying these products to rust-sensitive areas such as buckets, booms, and the cab can help prolong the life of the machine.

A rust coating is perfect to prevent rust from happening and can be used even when rust has already started.  Some popular products include Rust Bullet and Rust Converter.

Take care of your baby like you would a nice car by washing and waxing it.  Yes, wax your excavator!  Doing this on a regular basis will help fight encroaching rust.

Finally, it may seem a little above and beyond, but you can store your machines with a dehumidifier to pull moisture out of the air.  That will also help keep your machine from having congestion.  Yes, that last part is a joke.

Seriously though, rust can quickly compromise your machine's structure, so fighting off rust is a good way to prolong the life of your excavator, bulldozer, backhoe, or any other machine made of metal.  Keeping rust off will make your machine look a lot nicer too!
