If you have to replace your hydraulic pump but don't want to spend a ton of money on a new pump, a rebuilt option could be perfect for you.

Going with a used pump is generally too much risk unless you are simply trying to get rid of your machine.

What should you expect from a rebuilt pump? Here is a quick overview of the process.

First, the pump core is cleaned thoroughly. The rebuilder will put the pump into a wash cabinet to get all the dirt and grime off the housing. After that process, the pump is disassembled and all the parts are cleaned using a solvent.

After all the parts are cleaned, they are inspected. Damaged internal parts are discarded while good parts are used again in the rebuild. Component specifications are met. The pump is then put back together using new seals and bearings.

From there, the pump is put onto a test stand to be sure it meets all required pressure and flow settings.

If the pump passes, it will be cleaned again and in some cases painted. Rebuild shops will then warranty the pump at least 90 days and in most cases, six months to a year.
