The New Doosan Wheel Loader

Doosan has launched the new DL420CVT-7 Stage V compliant wheel loader equipped with a continuously variable transmission (CVT).

With a maximum bucket capacity of 4.5 m3, Doosan says the DL420CVT-7 is intended to meet a wide range of material-handling needs from loading and transporting material.

Makers say the CVT transmission provides smooth and continuous speed variation. Doosan says the CVT design combines hydraulic mechanical transmission and a hydrostatic transmission.

CVT is intended to allow the DL420CVT-7 to automatically transition from hydrostatic power at low speed to the mechanical system to operate at higher speeds.

Doosan says combining the two types of transmission ensures high loads can be carried at low engine speeds with high dynamics for an optimum wheel loader operating cycle in an effort to improve overall performance.

Makers say the CVT also improves fuel efficiency by up to 15%.

With an output of 326 HP at 1800 RPM, Doosan says the Scania DC09 engine in the DL420CVT-7 provides generous torque at low RPM and meets Stage V emission regulations without the need for exhaust gas recirculation (EGR), through the use of selective catalyst reduction, diesel oxidation catalyst and diesel particulate filter (DPF) after-treatment technologies. The soot cleaning cycle on the DPF has been improved to over 6000 h and the operator is informed about the status of the DPF via a soot level indicator on a touchscreen display in the cab.

Makers say the Z-kinematic lift arm on the DL420CVT-7 delivers high breakout forces and lifting capacities, especially for heavy materials. Also available is a high lift arm for higher dump heights.

The DL420CVT-7 is equipped with a 3rd spool valve engineered for constant flow for hydraulically driven attachments. Doosan says operators can control hydraulic attachments easier in this model using a proportional switch on the joystick.

Doosan says the operator's cab is more comfortable, comes complete with the latest in technology, provides easier access, and has an all-inclusive touch screen and monitor to collect data, monitor performance, and execute operations.

The LIS (Load Isolation System) has a lift arm cushioned by a hydro-pneumatic accumulator linked to the lift hydraulic system, acting as a shock absorber. Makers say this results in reduced cycle times and better fuel efficiency.

Doosan says a differential hydraulic lock (DHL) axle can be engaged at full torque automatically without any action from the operator.
