Texas state officials have recommended a joint venture between a design firm and an engineering firm be awarded a contract to oversee the construction of a state-funded wall along the Texas-Mexico border.
The Texas Facilities Commission announced it selected the partnership of Michael Baker International, and Huitt-Zollars.

The agency said the announcement would be made at the next meeting, likely in the coming days.
The contract winner will be in charge of managing budgets as well as identifying state land for wall construction.
Three bidders competed for the contract for which the value of has not yet been determined.
Construction of the state funded wall is part of Gov. Greg Abbott's $250 million co-funded plan which he announced in June. The wall will be made up of barriers and fencing.
Official say so far more than $50 million has been donated by the public. The Texas state Legislature sent a bill to Abbott's desk allocating another $1.8 billion for wall construction and boarder security.
Much of federal wall construction or improvements during Trump's one term in office was ordered stopped by President Biden just days after he took office.
One of the recommended firms, Michael Baker International, constructed more than 500 miles of the current 654 mile barrier.
Huitt-Zollars, whose corporate office is in Dallas, has designed Border Patrol stations in Texas and California, according to its website. It has also designed ports of entry along the U.S.-Canada border.
