NYC Construction Projects Getting Back on Track

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio announced the city is restarting $17 billion in capital construction projects. The work will be part of a pandemic recovery effort. New York City officials say 1,700 construction projects will be given the green light by the end of March.

Non-essential construction came to a halt one year ago because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Work will include improvements to schools, affordable housing projects, coastal infrastructure needed to help combat "climate change", the Vision Zero initiative focused on roadway safety, parks, and libraries.

Projects deemed essential included sewer and water. It's uncertain why climate change projects weren't pegged as essential, considering many officials consider climate change, "the biggest threat facing man" today.
