Noah Thompson
A Kentucky construction worker is the latest American Idol winner. Noah Thompson, who is 20-years-old, won season 20 of the popular show. “My heart is beating out of my chest,” Thompson said after it was announced he was the winner. “This is crazy.” In the season finale, Thompson and the other finalists performed Bruce Springsteen songs. For the final performance, Thompson sang Springsteen's “I’m On Fire.” Judge Lionel Richie had high praise for Thompson, saying, "we strive for hit records, but what makes your career last forever is when people fall in love with you. You’re on to something fabulous.” Thompson is a native of Blaine, Kentucky. His “American Idol” journey began when a coworker in construction signed him up for a virtual audition. The coworker told the show Thompson is “not born to be working with us doing drywall." Thompson and his girlfriend have an 8-month-old son named Walker. As part of his winnings, Thompson will receive a record deal from Disney-owned Hollywood Records.
