Converting From CAT SystemOne. Is it Possible?

We get a lot of calls here at ConEquip Parts from dozer owners asking if it is possible to convert Caterpillar SystemOne undercarriages back over to a standard set up.  The simple answer is yes.  And believe it or not, the process for most models isn't too difficult.

One of our good customers in Texas was able to convert his SystemOne undercarriage over to a standard setup without much problem.

Clarence Bodiford says it only took him and a couple co-workers a couple days to complete the conversion.

"We had to cut off the guards around the idlers and the rock guards on the bottom rails," Bodiford said.

The components that are usually different on the SystemOne undercarriage from the standard undercarriages are the idlers, sprockets, and rails.

One problem with the SystemOne undercarriage is the fact the dozer owner is at the mercy of Caterpillar because CAT has a special press needed for the SystemOne rails.

"SystemOne rails alone are $19,000.  On top of that you have to pay CAT to press your rails because they have a special press for the SystemOne tracks," Bodiford said.

ConEquip Parts has new replacement undercarriages for most makes and models for thousands less than dealer cost.
